The Foundation for Financial Planning is a small charitable foundation based in Tucker, Georgia which helps people take control of their financial lives by connecting the financial planning community with people in need. The Foundation achieves this by supporting pro bono advice and outreach activities.
The Problem
Jim Peniston of the Foundation for Financial Planning sought out the expertise of Kudzu Graphics in mid-2006 when in need of a redesign to his existing website. Jim had an overall objective in mind – to redesign and restructure the site to improve both the look and feel and navigational efficiency.
The Solution
Much of the information needed for the website was already available, which was a great benefit to the Kudzu design team. For the most part all that was needed was a new "wrapper" and a structured plan for the content. Jim was provided with a round of website concepts, which tied in nicely with an existing corporate logo. Custom imagery was also picked out to complement the new web color scheme and message. With a new design template picked out, a highly stylized site design was all that was needed to tie everything together. With this particular project, Jim also requested to have the ability to update content via Macromedia Contribute – a turnkey Content Management System developed by Macromedia, now Adobe.

Content Management Simplified
By working Contribute into the big picture, Jim would have the option of managing website content from his office without having to call on the support of a website professional. And when properly designed, a Contribute-enabled website can reduce the possibility of the website owner being able to accidentally alter the original design. The end result is that Jim will now be able to keep his website content fresh and up to date while saving both time and money.
The Results
The initial results and customer response were great. Practically overnight, the face of the Foundation for Financial Planning's website was changed and an immediate impact was realized. The new site had a clean and organized structure, which was easy to navigate. And an email marketing solution was also created to run in parallel with the new design. Existing clients appreciated the update and the same appeared to be the case with prospective donors.
Into the Future
The Foundation for Financial Planning's website redesign continues to be a hit. Since the initial rollout, new donation options have been added to the site. In addition to being able to accept one-time online gifts by credit card, prospective donors now have the option to make Individual and Corporate pledges via the Foundation's secure site.
